‘Warrior Woman’ Harmeet Kaur Bharya! *Trigger alert- Please don’t view these images or text if you feel triggered by or have suffered trauma around issues of women’s fertility health, loss or grief.* .
We all have that warrior in us who has fought many battles in life. Harmeet is one of those warrior women. Author of ‘Poetic Secrets’ and ‘Poetic Gratitude’, Harmeet is one of the many inspiring women who I’ve had the pleasure to photograph and talk to for my mental health photographic project within Black and Asian communities. . .

I titled this second image ‘Warrior Woman’ because she has faced and fought many challenges in her life – illness, the loss of loved ones, secondary infertility, miscarriage, anxiety and depression. Harmeet has found healing from these things in poetry, therapy, nature and loved ones. I love this image of her finding strength, power and healing in nature. . .

The next image is of Harmeet putting her hands on her abdomen while looking above. Harmeet spoke openly about her miscarriage and was comfortable enough to want to express her feelings of sadness around it in this image. She wanted to show people who have also been through similar losses that there is no shame in speaking about these things openly and that there is hope for healing through such heart-breaking loss. Not many people speak so openly from the heart about fertility losses so I truly admire her for the work she does to break stigmas around mental health and loss in fertility. . .

Her social media and books are so inspiring so feel free to follow her on social media and buy her beautiful poetry books.
